Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company.     This is a legend of a little girl that saves her village by traveling through dangerous conditions to get medicine.  During her journey the wind and animals speak encouragement to her.  When she reaches the other village they give the brave girl the medicine to take to her family and village.  On her return journey, she loses her moccasins in the snow and she gets very ill.  By the time she reaches her own village, she herself is close to death.  Her village is saved because of her bravery.  She recovers by spring.  When her and her brother walk through the woods they find a trail of beautiful flowers everywhere her feet bled in the snow.
